Well hello again

It has been a very long time since I have posted to this blog. Since that time the Styro-city has been dismantled and the photographs well recieved. I intend to rebuild the city differently, once more so that it was be displayed as a completed art piece.

The previous city was constructed in a one-sided fashion for the purpose of lighting. I hope to take this project another step forward so that it may reach more people. I found a coffee shop in my hometown that uses Greenware cups for their cold beverages and ceramic mugs for hot beverages for patrons who are sitting. I also learned that Rochester Institute of Technology recently, in the past few years, began using compostable food trays and cutlery so that all of the unwanted contents could be dumped into the trash and then composted. Since the beginning of this project, Sun Chips also released a compostable chip bag.

While too many coffee shops are still using Styrofoam, the presence of environmentally friendly food containers is increasing. This makes me very hopeful that change is coming fast. It also assures me that there are increasingly more people out there who care about the environment.

Styrocity Update

I have made some changes to the final scale of the images for this project. They will be slightly smaller than previously posted. This project is at a finalized state. Most of the images are 15.75 x 10.25 inches. The panoramic is wider, but is also 10.25 inches in height. I decided on a smaller scale because the smaller prints look more realistic at a distance than the original scale. The smaller scale also uses less photographic ink-jet paper, therefore producing less waste.

Project Conclusion

This project is not necessarily finished. I plan to revisit the styro-city in the future and continue to build upon it. I have far more images than those posted on this blog and they can probably only be truly appreciated at print scale. Each print is 17" in height and varying lengths from 20"-45". I hope to show this work publically in the future as well. If it is shown, I hope you can all view the work.

I am currently working on a project about green buildings in Massachusetts. Massachusetts has actually taken the lead in LEED Certified architecture in the country. I hope to have a blog for this project as well, and plan to have a url for you all soon.

Fourth Set

The panorama is too large to upload at the moment. I will reduce the file size in the near future and try to upload that image as well.
